Two more days
May. 7th, 2003 09:35 amSo, a whole bunch of friends are going to be arriving here Friday, and Saturday for the weekend. 7 people in my tiny apartment. I cast around, trying to figure out where to put them all. They'll fit, but just barely. I think I'm gonna have to clean out the dining room to put a mat down on the floor in there. I have to work this week, so don't have much time to clean. Fortunately, I don't have a whole lot of stuff, so I can shove most everything I own under the bedroom. Maybe I should buy a vacuum cleaner and vacuum the rug...
And, since everyone else is doing it:
1.What does your first name mean?
Patriotic, or loyal (which, despite the people currently running my country, I really am.)
2. What does your middle name mean?
Twin. Though some say it also means "doubter" or "seeker of the truth", which I like better
3. What does your last name mean?
Warrior. (Interesting fact #47: "Martin" also means warrior, so Martin Luther was warrior warrior)
4. So what does your name mean when put together?
Patriotic twin warrior? Or patriotic (but not in a blind unquestioning way) warrior.
6. Any other name oddities?
One translation of "warrior" into Arabic is "Shouhhada" (no idea how to transliterate that, sorry), a word that means the same thing but emphasizes that the person is fighting for something - that is, focuses more on the reasons behind being a warrior rather than just the war part.
Also, I sometimes go by "Patrick" instead of "Pat". Famous Patricks include Patrick Henry and Patrick Stewart, both good role models. Famous Pats include Pat Robertson and Pat Buchanan who are evil fucking nutjobs.
On the internet, I like using "Pat" and keeping my gender a secret. In technical forums, I'll get more basic helpful. information if I imply I'm female, and more detailed technical information if I imply I'm male.
7. Do you like your name?
Yes.
8. What do you like best about it?
Very versatile. And there are thousands of rhymes with it, which I used to hate as a child.
9. What do you like least about it?
Nothing, really.
10. If you HAD to change your name (witness protection program, whatever), what would you want it to be?
I've used lots of other names for various purposes, but I'm not gonna list any of them in a public forum :-)
